Intellectual Property

Inanovate’s IP team includes Wolf, Greenfield and Sacks as IP attorneys, and Dr David Kerns as internal IP strategist. Inanovate owns an exclusive license on issued patents in the US, EU and Japan for its nano-structured substrate manufacturing system; and has filed comprehensive PCT and US patent applications on the core substrate technology. Inanovate also owns an exclusive license to US and EP patent filings for the BiD (developed at Harvard Medical School), and an exclusive license to PCT and US patent filings on a set of prostate cancer biomarkers. This patent portfolio provides comprehensive coverage in the biochip landscape, and forms a tight, coherent and powerful support to Inanovate’s business model. The portfolio is further supported by a patentability and freedom to operate report completed by Wolf, Greenfield and Sacks. Inanovate continues to file patents to surround, consolidate and protect the IP already implemented.

Inanovates coroprate council is Pepper Hamilton LLC.

Investors and Collaborators

The i-Slide and the BiD product lines are leading pre-clinical protein research tools, used by researchers to further enhance their experimental methods and results. These product lines are currently supplied by Inanovate direct to end users, however Inanovate is in discussions with a variety of biochip/device, assay, and diagnostic companies, regarding collaborative / partnership arrangements to leverage established distribution networks, marketing and sales presence, and financial resources.

The i-Screen is scheduled for entry into a Device Master Filing in the summer of 2009, with the first integrated diagnostic test (for prostate cancer), planned for entry into PMA procedures later that year. To support this entry application, Inanovate has in-licensed proprietary auto-antibody biomarkers for prostate cancer.

There are five strategic areas of focus supporting Inanovate’s business model: (i) Operational excellence on substrate production; (ii) Market leadership position in protein biochip substrate performance; (iii) Comprehensive IP protection on core surface technology and associated manufacturing systems; (iv) Control of key downstream IP for selected diagnostic applications; (v) Provision of contract services to industry partners, leveraging Inanovate's leading expertise and facilities.
