Intellectual Property

Inanovate’s IP team includes Wolf, Greenfield and Sacks, and Gill Jennings & Every LLP as IP attorneys.

Inanovate owns an exclusive license on issued patents in the US, EU and Japan for its nano-structured substrate manufacturing system; and has filed comprehensive patent applications on the core technology underpinning the Bio-ID, including:

  1. The Longitudinal Assay technology that enables kinetic data generation with labeled assays.
  2. Dilation Pumping technology that enables precise control over nano-liter volumes of sample and reagents.
  3. Nano-particle Surface technology, that enhances assay sensitivity and rebroducibility.
  4. Kinetic analysis methods that help distinguish 'specific' protein interactions from 'non-specific' or false interactions.

Inanovate also owns exclusive licenses to patent filings covering protein biomarkers for the clinical diagnosis of prostate cancer and ovarian cancer.

This patent portfolio provides comprehensive coverage in the biochip landscape, and forms a tight, coherent and powerful support to Inanovate’s business model. The portfolio is further supported by a patentability and freedom to operate report completed by Wolf, Greenfield and Sacks. Inanovate continues to file patents to surround, consolidate and protect the IP already implemented.

Inanovates coroprate council is Pepper Hamilton LLC.

Investors and Collaborators

The Bio-ID can be accessed through two core programs:

  1. Bio-ID licensing program: Allows businesses developing, selling and distributing protein bioassays to enhance their competitive advantages by accessing the unique benefits of the Bio-ID. Typical agreements cover exclusive rights to develop and distribute bioassays on the Bio-ID in selected application areas. Inanovate is committed to building strong, mutually rewarding partnerships with market leaders in key life science and diagnostic markets.
  2. Internal biomarker programs:  Inanovate partners with leading researchers, clinical centers, biotech and pharmaceutical companies on biomarker discovery and validation programs. Such programs enable alliance partners to reduce the time and cost of biomarker discovery and validation programs, while increasing the likelihood of program success, by accessing the unique advantages of the Bio-ID supported by Inanovate’s internal expertise and facilities.

Inanovate is presently engaged in two internal biomarker programs in partnership with Harvard Medical School, and is actively engaged in discussions with both potential corporate partners and clinical centers in the US and UK to advance each core program. Once the Bio-ID is established in initial target applications, it will be extended across all protein bioassay application areas, and into DNA and tissue bioassay markets. A primary target for Inanovate through 2011 and 2012 is the integration of the Bio-ID into clinical diagnostic applications. In support of this, Inanovate is developing a fully automated version of the Bio-ID that will undergo a device master filing (MAF) to position the platform for use with approved diagnostic tests/biomarkers, both in CLIA laboratories and at the point of care.
