Biomarker Alliance Program

Inanovate partners with leading researchers, clinical centers, biotechnology companies and pharmaceutical companies on targeted biomarker discovery and validation programs. Such programs enable alliance partners to reduce the time and cost of biomarker discovery and validation programs, while increasing the likelihood of program success, by accessing the unique advantages of the Bio-ID supported by Inanovate’s internal expertise and facilities.

To date, Inanovate has advanced two internal biomarker discovery and validation programs:

  1. Ovarian Cancer: The current test, based on the CA-125 protein, does not detect ovarian cancer in its early stages when treatment can be most effective. Additionally, it does not detect cancer at any stage in ~25% of the female population. Inanovate’s platform has helped identify a marker candidate that may hold the key to delivering more accurate and earlier stage ovarian cancer diagnosis.
  2. Prostate Cancer: The standard PSA test does not differentiate cancer from Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, causing high false positive rates (over 3 in 4). This weakness leads to unnecessary invasive and costly biopsies. Inanovate has identified a statistically significant biomarker set that reduces the false positive rate over three fold. This represents close to 95% specificity at a sensitivity of ~90% (specificity is a measure of ‘false positives’ and sensitivity is a measure of ‘false negatives’).  A key clinical metric is the ‘Area Under Curve’ (AUC) value; this describes both the sensitivity and specificity of a biomarker. The ‘perfect’ diagnostic test would have an AUC of 1, i.e. no false positives and no false negatives. The current clinical test for prostate cancer (PSA) has an AUC of 0.53 (due to its very poor specificity). Inanovate’s combined marker set (red line) is presently showing an AUC of 0.95.

Inanovate is presently seeking new alliances to expand the biomarker alliance program into new clinical areas.
